Pat Aitkin, a friend of mine and fellow birder, is working on the development of a Local Waterfront Revitalization Plan for southern Oyster Bay, on behalf of NPV, a consulting firm. To put together the most up-to-date and accurate document possible she is looking for information regarding bird populations on the marsh islands in the South Shore Estuary Reserve, in Town of Oyster Bay waters. Bird information is vital if the Plan is to make recommendations to safeguard vital bird habitat in this area. She wrote: "The more specific the information that can be provided, the better, although all observations would be appreciated. If changes have been noticed in the size, or the overall habitat conditions of the islands, that information would be appreciated as well. Please try to limit these observations to islands within the boundaries of the Town of Oyster Bay".
