Sunken Meadow State Park (Suffolk Co.) was quite birdy during my 5 hour visit (7:15am-12:30pm). There had obviously been a major influx of a few species overnight, most notably N. Parula, Red-eyed Vireo, and E. Phoebe, all of which were nearly ubiquitous, with multiple individuals of each species in view at once on several occasions. I'm fairly certain I've never seen so many Parulas (at least 25) in one day, Spring or Fall. They made up the majority in all the mixed feeding flocks I came across. I found 14 species of warblers overall, highlighted by Blackburnian, Nashville, and Chestnut-sided. Other notable finds were Peregrine Falcon, Yellow-throated Vireo, Gray-cheeked and Swainson's thrushes, Scarlet Tanager, Rose-breasted Grosbeak, and Indigo Bunting. I also saw my first Golden-crowned Kinglets of the season, which is noteworthy only in that I've yet to see any Ruby-crowned.
