This afternoon, I joined Eric Miller in an effort to try and relocate
a *CONNECTICUT
WARBLER* he had found earlier at Powell's Cove Park, in Queens County.
After some searching, we were successful in re-finding the bird as we made
a 3rd pass near the area he had found it.

Not far from that location we found another good one in a 1st fall
female *MOURNING
WARBLER* that provided tantalizing looks keeping us guessing for a bit
until we finally saw it well enough to nail the ID. Other highlights
included, a nicely marked *BAY BREASTED WARBLER* and a *LINCOLN SPARROW*.

Earlier in the morning I had birded the North Woods area in Central Park in
anticipation of an upcoming walk that I will be leading. For my two hours
of scouting I managed 54 species with the highlights being *OLIVE-SIDED
FLYCATCHER* and *BLACKBURNIAN WARBLER* the latter making up a 14 species
warbler count for CP.
