Today, Andria and I birded in the Bronx, doing some "ground and pound" just
trying to scratch out some birds while exploring new areas in that borough.
Although, we did not cover all the places I would have liked, we managed 60
species counting only those seen well and on site.

Highlights included LINCOLN's SPARROW, INDIGO BUNTING, BLUE- HEADED VIREO,
PEREGRINE FALCON, BOBOLINK, GREEN-WINGED TEAL, YELLOW WARBLER (getting late for
this time of the year?) and probably our best bird of the day, a NELSON's
SPARROW. The latter seen near Turtle Cove at Pelham Bay Park.

In terms of the volume of some species, I was impressed with the number of
SWAMP SPARROWS and RUBY-CROWNED KINGLETS we encountered. We also managed 13
species of warblers, which I thought was rather decent given the recent reports
of warbler migration.

Cheers!
