A cold weather front brought out some typical November migrants in good numbers at West End this morning. Highlights included Red-winged Blackbird (4,400), Robin (1200), and American Goldfinch (175). Present in small numbers were Rusty Blackbird (10), American Pipit (9), and Purple Finch (3). At the Zach's bay picnic area an Orange-crowned Warbler (photos on my flickr site) and Common Yellowthroat were observed. Unfortunately we did not see a swallow all day. Gannet numbers were impressive just off the beach in the early morning (we briefly counted 750).
