Spotted both a mature and immature Bald Eagle at HLSP today. They seem to
be prefer the northern most edge of the lake and the lake just north of the
Southern State Parkway. The eagles got into a bit of an aerial display and
were actually locking talons. Pretty cool to see over a nassau county lake.
Also perched at the same lake was a Peregrine Falcon.
Later we visited Jones beach and got the Northern Shrike at the West End 2.
It was in the lone bare tree close to the south western edge of the parking
lot. We then scoped a Snowy Owl a little further east. Not a bad day of
birding.
