A small group of birders this morning looked unsuccessfully for the
Barnacle Goose at Belmont Lake State Park.

As a consolation, we enjoyed looks at Wood Ducks (tallied at 19), Iceland
Gull (dark immature) and a very neat looking Pintail x Mallard Hybrid
picked out by Brent Bomkamp as it tried to hide amongst the Mallards.

Later on at Massapequa Park, a Wilson's Snipe flushed providing good looks
while in flight. With the usual trouble makers further out east *(see Shai
Mitra's post) *I took it upon myself to try and raise some ruckus.

Unfortunately, despite a careful search from Jones Beach West End II to
Robert Moses, I was unable to turn up anything of note.

Cheers!
