Hi All, Thanks to a ride from David Burg, Jared and Michelle Cole and I spent a great 3.5 hours in Breezy Point and environs this afternoon. Our plan was to explore the beach to the Breezy Point jetty and then bird along the dune trail. Little did we know that scanning a ~1K stretch of ocean between Ft. Tilden and the point would end up occupying almost our entire visit while providing plenty of excitement. The highlights included a Razorbill foraging quite close to shore among the many Long-tailed Ducks, an Iceland Gull also close to shore and last but not least, an adult Black-headed Gull. All were seen in the same general area described above. Unfortunately we could not get a photo of the latter, but the definite red bill, bright red feet and bulkier-than-Bonaparte's appearance were all obvious. Perhaps this is the same bird recently seen along the Brooklyn coast? http://ebird.org/ebird/view/checklist?subID=S16354403 Good Birding,Richard Aracil -- NYSbirds-L List Info: http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsWELCOME http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsRULES http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsSubscribeConfigurationLeave.htm ARCHIVES: 1) http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/maillist.html 2) http://www.surfbirds.com/birdingmail/Group/NYSBirds-L 3) http://birdingonthe.net/mailinglists/NYSB.html Please submit your observations to eBird: http://ebird.org/content/ebird/ --
