A late afternoon check of Coney Island Creek and the adjacent shoreline west to Norton Point yielded a few notable sightings.
1 Glaucous Gull (continuing bird. Spotted at roughly 3:15 flying in from the ocean side and sitting down on the water halfway to the bridge) 1 Adult Iceland Gull. Spotted as I was leaving at roughly 4pm. It was bathing near the sand spit closer to Kaiser Park. Before I could get closer to photograph it all the gulls put up and the Iceland headed around the point towards the ocean. This individual had a fair amount of black in the wings). 2 Adult Gannets working Gravesend Bay Cheers, Sean Sime Brooklyn, NY -- NYSbirds-L List Info: http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsWELCOME http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsRULES http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsSubscribeConfigurationLeave.htm ARCHIVES: 1) http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/maillist.html 2) http://www.surfbirds.com/birdingmail/Group/NYSBirds-L 3) http://birdingonthe.net/mailinglists/NYSB.html Please submit your observations to eBird: http://ebird.org/content/ebird/ --
