Just a heads up for local birders. Shane Blodgett called me with word of a possible Common/Mew Gull in Brooklyn. The bird was roosting on the Veterans Memorial Pier within a large flock of Ring-billed Gulls when the birds flushed and moved out into the bay. He is currently scanning the birds trying to relocate it.
The pier is at the western end of Bay Ridge Avenue in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. Here's an info link if you plan on going this weekend: http://www.nycgovparks.org/parks/americanveteransmemorialpier/ This is not far from where he located one along Gravesend Bay during the Winter of 2010.
