Thanks for this info Mike.
Just to clarify though the Murre flew NORTH not south and may still be in the 
area. Last I saw it was headed into upper New York Bay and toward the Hudson so 
it may still be in the area today. 
If it was released directly across from the Veteran's Pier it had to have gone 
south some first and then come back to the north as I first saw it several 
hundred yards south of pier. This is assuming that is the same bird..
