The waterfowl on the Upper Hudson River in Schuylerville and Fort Miller have exploded overnight. Today's highlights were the large numbers of Ring-necked Ducks, Greater Scaup, Bufflehead, Common and Hooded Mergansers, and most significantly, 2 drake Redheads with a single drake Canvasback. We rarely see these last 2 species here. Also, FOY Red-winged Blackbird and Common Crackle. The end of my trip was at the Fort Edward Grasslands, which still is holding Snowy Owls and a single Short-Eared Owl. Happy Birding in the lower Adirondacks.
