A rather hurried early morning walk through Willowbrook Park with Ashley
Ozelski was very productive, especially in terms of my own narrowly defined
target species: Alder Flycatcher, Gray-cheeked Thrush, Tennessee Warbler, and
Mourning Warbler. Several late-spring migrants were notably numerous,
especially given the abbreviated effort: Blackpoll and Canada Warblers,
American Redstart, Common Yellowthroat, Red-eyed Vireo, and Swainson's Thrush.

A female Summer Tanager was bonus.

On a related note, I had a singing male Summer Tanager yesterday morning at
Sunken Meadow SP in northwestern Suffolk County, LI, which Patricia Lindsay
reports was still present this morning.

In the "I can't believe this is how I go birding" category, single
Yellow-billed Cuckoo and Forster's Tern loped in front of my car near the Mill
Basin drawbridge, Brooklyn, at 06:14....
