A big thanks to Shai Mitra for his report! I was able to get over to Willowbrook by 2pm and there was still plenty of activity!
The highlight were pulverizing looks at an adult male SUMMER TANAGER! Seen from the first stream bridge when you encoutner when entering from the archery range. It was singing and foraging mid way up in the canopy. I did not see the female that Shai reported this morning, despite searching through the many female Scarlet Tanagers that were on hand. Other highlights included singing MOURNING WARBLER, TENNESSEE WARBLER and GREY CHEEKED THRUSH. Also numerous Bay-breasted, Canada, Redstarts, Wilson's and even a few Yellow-rumps! An empid was flycatching from one of the numerous dead trees close to the archery range but did not vocalize. The parking area for this section of Willowbrook Park is located off Richmond Ave., at the end of Eton Pl, past the Carousel. Park at end of lot and go behind archery range to find trail. -Mike Shanley -- NYSbirds-L List Info: http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsWELCOME http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsRULES http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsSubscribeConfigurationLeave.htm ARCHIVES: 1) http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/maillist.html 2) http://www.surfbirds.com/birdingmail/Group/NYSBirds-L 3) http://birdingonthe.net/mailinglists/NYSB.html Please submit your observations to eBird: http://ebird.org/content/ebird/ --
