As previously posted, after the Kirtland's Warbler had not been seen since
around 1:30 pm or so, I heard it singing again along the entrance ramp from
the State Park exit road to the Lake Ontario Parkway Westbound. By the
time the remaining birders assembled at this location the warbler had once
again moved, this time just south of the (currently closed) eastbound lane
of the Parkway. From here it flew slightly east, ending up in the small
group of trees just east of the park entrance road and south of the parkway
(if you look at a map of Hamlin Beach, this is the eastern of the two roads
which cross under the Lake Ontario Parkway south of the main entrance).
The warbler foraged in these trees for around 40 minutes before first
flying just north of the parkway and eventually flying back south towards
the trees again, although at this point we were all on the north side of
the parkway and did not see it land.

If anyone is looking tomorrow morning, I think it is worth checking the
entire area from the park entrance road south of the parkway - this is
accessed by car from Moscow Road - and then along the trees west of the
main entrance/exit roads north to the first traffic circle. As previously
posted, this morning it was most frequently heard and seen in the area
between the fee booths and the traffic circle to the north.

This map shows the key locations:

(A) area between fee booths and traffic circle - where the warbler was most
frequently seen and heard this morning, up until about 1:30 pm.

(B) entrance ramp from State Park to Lake Ontario Parkway westbound -
relocated here around 6:20 pm.

(C) area south of parkway where the bird foraged during the evening

(D) location of initial sighting around 6:50 am - but not seen here the
rest of the day

Please note that the entrance and exit roads around markers B and C are
fairly active and there is no legal parking in the immediate vicinity.
Best bet is to drive in and park in a legal spot and then walk back down
to these locations. Today they were allowing parking in the small paved
area on the right immediately past the fee booths & there are a couple of
small spots along the traffic circle, or plenty of parking in Area 1, the
first large parking area on your right after the traffic circle.
