NYS Birders, Tim Lenz and I observed an EARED GREBE today at Point Lookout, Nassau County. It was loosely associating with two Horned Grebes, immediately east of the easternmost of the three jetties. Two Harlequin Ducks were off the westernmost jetty. Many Common Eider and Bonaparte's Gulls were present, but we could not pull out more sought-after species.
A digiscoped iPhone video of the grebe is posted here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/mja43/16063914019/ and our eBird list, with an embedded still image, is here: http://ebird.org/ebird/view/checklist?subID=S21285155 Cheers, Mike Michael J.
