There were 24 RED-NECKED GREBES and a single PIED-BILLED GREBE on Oneida Lake
this morning, seen from Mill St in Constantia. The water on the lake has
opened up quite a bit along the shoreline, extending all the way out to the
islands before you hit the surface ice on the lake. Other waterfowl species
present in small numbers were:

COMMON LOON - 2
CANADA GOOSE – 5 plus 49 flyovers
MALLARD - 4
COMMON MERGANSER - 8
COMMON GOLDENEYE - 8
BUFFLEHEAD - 34
RING-NECKED DUCK - 6
GREATER SCAUP - 8
LESSER SCAUP – 4
Scaup sp - 15

Also 2 flyby WOOD DUCKS, 5 flyby CORMORANTS, a BELTED KINGFISHER and an adult
BALD EAGLE. I stopped there again in the afternoon and found similar numbers
of all the species listed above, with the addition of 3 BONAPARTE’S GULLS.
