Shorebirds and warblers were the highlights of reports received August 27 through September 3 from the Niagara Frontier Region. September 1, 4 BUFF-BR. SANDPIPERS at Macumber and Ham Roads in the Genesee County Town of Oakfield. Also AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVER, LEAST SANDPIPER and abundant KILLDEER. At Lakeside Beach State Park, on the Lake Ontario shore in Orleans County, August 29 through September 2, 14 shorebird species were highlighted by a WILLET, plus SEMIPALMATED PLOVER, SOLITARY SANDPIPER, GREATER YELLOWLEGS, LESSER YELLOWLEGS, STILT SANDPIPER, SEMIPALM. SANDPIPER, LEAST SANDPIPER, WHITE-R. SANDPIPER, BAIRD'S SANDPIPER, PECTORAL SANDPIPER and SHORT-B. DOWITCHER. The shorebirds were all at the western pond, accessed by hiking west, then south, along along the service road, between the Parkway and the park entrance. Fall warblers from several locations. Highlighted by a reported CONNECTICUT WARBLER in a North Boston yard, with OVENBIRD, COMMON YELLOWTHROAT, MAGNOLIA WARBLER, YELLOW-R. WARBLER and PINE WARBLER. At a pond in a Wilson yard in Niagara County, nine warbler species included BL. AND W. WARBLER, TENNESSEE WARBLER, NASHVILLE WARBLER, AMERICAN REDSTART, MAGNOLIA WARBLER, BAY-BREASTED WARBLER, CHESTNUT- S. WARBLER, BL.-THR. BL. WARBLER, and BL.-THR. GREEN WARB. And on the Buffalo waterfront and at Times Beach, NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH, CAPE MAY WARBLER and BLACKPOLL WARBLER. At the Batavia Waste Water Plant, two EARED GREBES continue with numerous RUDDY DUCKS, a VIRGINIA RAIL, and one of the higher counts for this location - 124 D.-CREST. CORMORANTS. The night of August 27, SWAINSON'S THRUSHES were heard migrating over the Town of Tonawanda.
