Two birders hiking the "Indian Ladder Trail" at Thatcher State Park west of Albany, NY yesterday, reported (and photographed) a bird they later identified as a TOWNSEND'S SOLITARE.
In an email from one of the observers, he states: "The location, as I recall, was just before an S-curve in the trail that leads you to an interpretive sign about the park dedication and rock with a dedicatory plaque on it". I understand they are in the process of digitizing the photos that they took and will send them on when ready. These are reliable observers who, although having been unfamiliar with this western species, researched their bird guides before making their identification.
