While watching for local raptors this afternoon from Collect Pond Park in
the Chinatown section of Manhattan I spotted a streaming flock of *Broad-winged
Hawks* of over 50 birds heading northeast over Manhattan. Also seen was the
local male *Red-tailed Hawk* who recently lost his mate from the probable
second hand poisoning of a rat. The DEC will perform an autopsy to find the
cause. The Red-tailed Hawk was being driven down to an air conditioner
perch on 100 Centre Street by a local *Peregrine Falcon*. This was around
1pm.
