Saturday, 30 April, 2016 - Central Park, Manhattan, N.Y. City A variety of species, both reported earlier this month as well as some not (in Central before) are being observed in the park so far this morning.
Orange-crowned Warbler & also Hooded Warbler are being seen around the Lily Ponds area, east of the Blockhouse in the far north woods of the park (not far from 110 St. & just west of the w. side of the Meer), and there is a YELLOW-THROATED Warbler found at the "source" of the Gill, near the Azalea Pond area in the Ramble, as reported thru Doug Kurz, & known to me via personal messages from folks out in the field with their text-twitter-smart systems engaged. The Orange-crowned Warbler at the n. end was spotted at location as above by Isaiah, one of our fine "young birders" (a member of that NYS club), and Tom Perlman, of Manhattan. The breeding-plumaged Horned Grebe noted first on Friday by Debbie Becker at the reservoir is still present this morning. No one has been finding / reporting a Swainson's Warbler again, as seen on Thursday (only, thus far) but that rare migrant could still be in the park, somewhere. Thanks to the several who sent a few notes on morning discoveries. good luck & keep it on the quiet-side, the birds thank you for that, Tom Fiore Manhattan -- NYSbirds-L List Info: http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsWELCOME http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsRULES http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsSubscribeConfigurationLeave.htm ARCHIVES: 1) http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/maillist.html 2) http://www.surfbirds.com/birdingmail/Group/NYSBirds-L 3) http://birdingonthe.net/mailinglists/NYSB.html Please submit your observations to eBird: http://ebird.org/content/ebird/ --
