  The Buffalo Bird Report is a service provided by your
  Buffalo Museum of Science and the Buffalo Ornithological
  Society. To contact the Science Museum, call 896-5200. Press
  the pound key to report sightings before the end of this
  report.

  Highlights of reports received August 18 through September 1
  from the Niagara Frontier Region.

  August 26, a WOOD STORK was photographed roosting on private
  property in the Erie County Town of Eden. The stork was not
  found the next day.

  Also on the 26th, on the Niagara Peninsula of Ontario, a
  record count of 18 BUFF-BR. SANDPIPERS on Sherk Road, north
  of Highway 3, east of Port Colbourne. On the 29th, at least
  8 BUFF-BR. SANDPIPERS were still present. Also on Sherk
  Road, BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER, AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVER,
  SEMIPALMATED PLOVER, KILLDEER, DOWITCHER SPECIES, LESSER
  YELLOWLEGS, PECTORAL SANDPIPER, LEAST SANDPIPER, SEMIPALM.
  SANDPIPER and BAIRD'S SANDPIPER.

  Other shorebird reports - in Orleans County, AMERICAN
  GOLDEN-PLOVER on Stillwater Road and at Point Breeze on Lake
  Ontario, SEMIPALMATED PLOVER, SANDERLING and RUDDY
  TURNSTONE. At Tifft Nature Preserve in Buffalo, 10
  SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS, and numbers of LEAST SANDPIPERS and
  SEMIPALM. SANDPIPERS. And at the landfill on Porter Center
  Road in Niagara County, 10 shorebird species included STILT
  SANDPIPER, SHORT-B. DOWITCHER and WILSON'S SNIPE.

  After a summer of no reports, widespread reports of small
  numbers of migrant COMMON NIGHTHAWKS.

  Single OLIVE-S. FLYCATCHERS, some lingering several days, at
  Forest Lawn in Buffalo, the Forestville Elementary School
  campus in Chautauqua County, Beaver Island State Park on
  Grand Island, and near the wooden bridge at Amherst State
  Park.

  Migrant warblers picking up quickly. September 1, 16 species
  at Fort Niagara State Park on Lake Ontario. With other
  reports, a total of 19 species during the past week.

  Other recent reports - two, distant, JAEGER SPECIES off Fort
  Niagara. Two OSPREYS on the nest platform at Buckhorn Island
  State Park on Grand Island. Four SANDHILL CRANES at the
  Mosaic ponds north of Rock Point Park in Ontario. And, a
  SCARLET TANAGER on a feeder at Sunset Beach in Orleans
  County.

  The Bird Report will be updated Thursday evening, September
