The Orange County black dirt was productive Friday; highlights: 9 American golden plovers (2 locations sod farm rte. 12; Turtle bay road -- off rte. 12) 3 buff breasted sandpiper (sod farm) 1 stilt sandpiper (Walkill NWR -- back pond so new jersey if that's relevant) 2 pectoral both Walkill one first pond of loop, second back pond 1 snow goose - back of camel farm Many kestrel and harriers, 1 BE, 1 Cooper's hawk, and 1 sharpie (likely young bird since seemed to enjoy terrorizing shire birds at Walkill -- unsuccessfully) Lots of Bobolink at Walkill but no perceptible passerine migration. Nothing on Indiana Road but picked up lunch and a large order at Quaker Creek Store (do not miss). Was nice to be out on a beautiful day w a few birders far better than I. The work will still be there Tuesday.
