So that it's clear, the Christmas Bird Count done in Manhattan, NYC (yes, that's the one that Central Park is a part of) is a section of the Lower Hudson CBC - and each year, wonderful birds are found by dedicated observers, not just in & around all of Manhattan (NY County) but in that large, "other half" of this count, which happens to be in New Jersey - that some of the species, and numbers of some species, are of a sort that Manhattan birders might dream of finding, thanks to various habitat available in the NJ portions of this count, is part of the shared fun on 2 sides of the Hudson river, and is, as Mike Britt proudly states, a tribute to some fine birders west of the Hudson, in addition to the many giving great efforts on the east side.

There may be some additions to the count announced as various observers report in to the compilers, including some reports for the day of the count as well as days in the count-week period (ending today for the Lower Hudson CBC).

good birding - & be safe this holiday season,
