An American Avocet was discovered a few days ago in Jefferson County, by if I recall correctly, Brian Miller and Eileen Wheeler. It has been reported by Jeff Bolsinger and Iain Davies as well. I looked for and found it today (May 2). It is on County Route 9, just south of its intersection with SR 12E, at a pond just north of the Wood Farms dairy barns and across from the TI High School, and was easily seen from the road.
