There are now 7 White Ibis here in Stony Brook. At high tide, I checked the
marsh side off trustees Road at West Meadow Beach. I viewed the birds
through a cut off about 100 feet from the kiosk. They were roosting on a
dead tree out in the open, preening and resting. They stayed long enough
for Doug Futuyma to arrive and see them. Soon after, they were spooked by a
person trying to enter the marsh in a rowboat. They were headed southward
towards Stony Brook Harbor.
