Just wanted to post a quick update. The bird seems to have hung around until
approximately 11:15, shortly before I arrived with my younger daughter. A
birder who was present informed me that it was observed flying over the dunes
and towards the ocean.

We didn’t spot the Red-necked Phalarope again while we were at Sagaponack Pond.
We left around 12:15.

One word of caution if you go… we received a $100 parking ticket for our
efforts. While there was no parking attendant present, apparently the lot is
being patrolled with some regularity.
