Manhattan, N.Y. City - Friday, October 9th -

A Sora was ongoing for Friday at Bryant Park in mid-Manhattan. An American
Bittern remained into Friday in the Central Park Ramble. A Dickcissel was
lingering again in Battery Park at the s. end of Manhattan. Among the latest
of photographed Orange-crowned Warblers was one in a favored site, Carl Schurz
Park on upper Manhattans far East Side, where like all of these birds,
separately, this too was photographed nicely.

Many many other migrants are also ongoing and with some turnover noted daily,
such that more native sparrows are showing up, and a bit less of the numbers of
neotropial-wintering songbirds, as is expected in this part of autumn.

Thanks to many observers and photographers for sightings, alerts, reports, and
good tips in the field.

Good birding,

Tom Fiore
