I've really enjoyed working with CiviCRM (+Drupal) for this sort of
thing. Very good for the campaign / pursuing repeat donations /
membership angles. CiviCRM works standalone, so you can integrate nicely
into other CMS solutions if you prefer.

Answering your question, Eileen from the Wellington Circus Trust
reported that DPS + Westpac was a good option
<http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php/topic,5125.0.html> for them - not
sure if any NZ banks or payment processors do charity rates.

PayMate are an AU (AU/NZ?) gateway who I remember as being pretty cheap
and working like PayPal do - no setup costs, just transaction costs.

There's a new company currently doing billboards around town - PayGo?
Pago <http://paygo.co.nz/>? "Shop online without a credit card" is
their thing.

Bit of a roundup here:
http://lancewiggs.com/2007/03/13/paymex-paygo-paypal-paywhatever/ ...
kind of turns into a PayMex thread tho ... what did become of PayMex?

"Which payment processor" comes up fairly often on-list, and the general
impression I get is that DPS aren't the cheapest, but their customers
are consistently pleased with their service.

A couple of earlier threads on the topic - there are plenty more :)

My biggest gripe with using Paypal is not that they are greedy or evil,
it's that the button to pay by credit card is hard for punters to spot,
and they think they need a Paypal account to make the payment.
Transactions that frequently fail to complete are almost certainly going
to be more costly than someone having a cut of the transaction.
