Thanks for the responses guys! Out of interest, I setup a test S3 account yesterday and it was incredibly easy and fast. The QNAP server was able to schedule a backup.
The only thing however, is that on the S3 online console - you cannot download entire folders, just individual files? weird, and limiting. Going to investigate ElephantDrive today also.
