Perhaps less relevant to decision making but consider who supports the NZ developer / startup community. I've used domains4less because they're cheap but keep seeing iwantmyname's logo on stuff which prompt an interest.
There's also the question of business relationship, especially if you're doing volume and post-paying. I enjoyed a great relationship with ICONZ (freeparking/webfarm/2day etc) for years but have discovered they're entirely unforgiving if you become unable to pay your bills.
