The /repos/asf/jackrabbit/commons space was our earlier (around
Jackrabbit 1.5) attempt at managing separate release cycles for such
components, but that didn't work out too well in practice due to the
extra management overhead. So we've been migrating commons codebases
like jcr-commons and jcr-rmi back into the main Jackrabbit trunk from
where they are being released as a part of our broader release
schedule. Thus the code Simone is proposing should go into the
jackrabbit-jcr-commons component under .../jackrabbit/trunk.
