We have quite a few major bugs labeled "candidate_oak_1_8" which are not
fixed in 1.8 yet (see
<https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/OAK-7401?jql=project%20%3D%20OAK%20AND%20labels%3Dcandidate_oak_1_8%20and%20type%3Dbug%20ORDER%20BY%20%20priority>).
We should review those and decide whether they actually need to be fixed
(and then fix them), or drop the label.
