Summarizing:
* problem occurs on 3 out of three Windows machines
* problem also occurs on Windows inside Linux subsystem
But...:
* problem does not occur on a native Linux machine, nor a Linux VM under
VirtualBox on Windows
* problem does not occur on MacOS
