Joe, I'm not sure which issue are you talking about.

I assume you don't mean the link as that was addressed at the last Board
meeting when the Board voted 8 to 2 against establishing a link. If you
mean, as suggested below, to accept Celia's "offer to provide this valuable
service - not as a link to another site but as part of the OBC web site".
I'm afraid Celia dealt with that one in January by resigning as webmaster
which included removing herself from doing the TT pages.

She stated in an e-mail message,

" ..... Oh - I guess I'll not be doing the TT pages either. It would be too
much of a hassle to get them emailed to the new webmaster for posting."

We have since been told that the Board had "a reading comprehension
problem" and she didn't really mean that she had resigned or that she
didn't really give up the TT work at the same time - maybe she was hoping
that we would not accept the reignation but I think it's unreasonable to
expect Board members to read something else into what was written. As a
result of this, a new webmaster, Randy Plunkett, was appointed. Through all
this he has kept a dignified silence even though he has put up with more
insults, privately and here publicly, over his competence than anyone could
ever reasonably expect a volunteer to accept.

Actually, the OBC is probably the best operated cycling club in Canada.
Where else can cyclists get the comprehensive range of services our members
get for $40? The low price is a direct result of it being competently
managed by dedicated volunteers (with the sole exception of one paid
administrative employee) who put in long hours for the benefit of their
fellow members. If a couple of members want to disrupt the operations of
the club (as they have) to pursue their own agenda, well it's up to the
silent majority to express their confidence in how the Board operates the
club. If not, well I don't know anyone on the Board that is wedded to
his/her portfolio, or think it's an essential part of his/her life. They do
it for the love and joy of cycling, and to give something back. I'm sure
they would be quite happy to remove themselves and let the squeeky wheels
take over custody of the oil can, so to speak. The squeeky wheels however
will still have to conform to procedures and standards, and subject
themselves to the decisions and authority of the Board. They'll be in the
same position as we are. There's no getting around it.
