Subject: Summer international programs in cultural economics

I would like to draw your attention to the second edition of the Summer
international programs in cultural economics that will take place in
Deventer, The Netherlands.

These year we design five courses for the specific needs and interests of
participants:

- Value of Culture: On the relationship between Economics, Culture
and the Art (August 4-11, 2010);

-         Creativity, economy and society (July 28 - August 4);

-         Economics of cultural heritage and museums (June 28 – July 1);

-         Cultural entrepreneurship (June 28 – July 1);

- Art production and markets (June 28 – July 1).

All courses explore the tension between the world of economics and the
world of the arts. The first course examines the relationship between
culture and economics. The second course focuses on the role of creativity
in the modern economy and aims to bridge knowledge and experiences of
technology, arts and business. The other three courses are shorter and
provide a closer look to the economics of specific cultural sectors as
well as to the practices of cultural entrepreneurship.
Participants will take part in debates on recent insights on the topics
and learn from actual cases. They will engage with prominent cultural and
business entrepreneurs and well-known academics.

Last year, the course attracted a great diversity of graduate students,
academics and cultural entrepreneurs from a wide diversity of
institutions and cultures. There were fifteen participants from 10
countries and teachers from Japan, Italy, Bulgaria, Belgium and the
Netherlands. I hope to replicate this experience also thanks to your help.

Knowing your involvement in the field of art and culture, I thought the
courses might be interesting for you or for people in your network. We are
reaching out to relevant educators, professionals and institutions to pass
this information on to interested students city planners, politicians,
teachers, business leaders, cultural managers and other workers in the
cultural field.

I would be grateful if you could contact potentially interested parties
and encourage them to apply. The candidates are invited to download the
application form from: http://www.klamer.nl/av and send it to:
summersch...@klamer.com.

I will be glad to answer any questions you may have. Please don’t
hesitate to get in touch.

Kindest regards,

Prof. Arjo Klamer,

Chair, Economics of Art and Culture, Erasmus University
