U.S. Stock Futures Climb After Microsoft Makes Offer for Yahoo

Feb. 1 (Bloomberg) -- U.S. stock-index futures rallied
after Microsoft Corp., the world's largest software company,
offered to buy Yahoo! Inc., the second-ranked Internet search
engine, for about $44.6 billion.
Standard & Poor's 500 Index futures expiring in March
gained 14.8, or 1.1 percent, to 1,394.4 as of 11:42 a.m. in
London. Dow Jones Industrial Average futures added 144 to
12,758. Nasdaq-100 Index futures increased 25 to 1,872.75.
Yahoo! climbed $9.82, or 51 percent, to $29 after Microsoft
offered $31 a share for the company. Microsoft rose 10 cents to
$32.70.
