Apparently, the XE toolkit (successor to the SE toolkit introduced in the "Solaris Performance and Tuning" book) is open-source, at http://sourceforge.net/projects/xe-toolkit/develop
The latest download tarball is 1.2, but supposedly 1.3 is in svn (according to http://www.captivemetrics.com/Captive_Metrics/Home.html) I have no idea what it would take to get this working on OpenSolaris, but with the case to remove sag(1), poor as it is, I thought something capable of accessing a wide range of info and presenting it might be worth considering, and what I remember of this from very long ago seems hopeful.
