This evening we found a cast iron water meter cover - oval; about 20 cm by 10 cm - lying on the pavement outside our house, looking very much as if someone had lifted it from somewhere else and dropped it there. It was right next to our own meter cover, so maybe someone scared the thief off while they were trying for ours.
