I agree with our CPF Chairman that it is a positive step forward that our
station management have been able have been able to root out this corruption
in their ranks.

Take care,

Subject: Reaction to arrest of Woodstock police members

Dear CPF exco members

Just wanted to let you know that the following story is in the news at the
moment:

"Two Cape Town policemen were arrested on Tuesday over their links to drug
lords in Woodstock, said Western Cape police.
They were allegedly paid to transport drugs for traffickers, said
Lieutenant-Colonel Andre Traut.
He said the two, aged 28- and 44-years-old, were arrested at their homes in
Mitchells Plain and in Northpine, Kraaifontein, on Tuesday, after an
investigation by the Hawks. They had been charged with corruption."

Our Station Commander has instigated and has been involved in the
investigation of these police officers from the start.

Even though it is disappointing that this allegedly took place in our own
precinct, as CPF we want to commend Col. Van Der Riel and Woodstock station
management on their efforts to fight corruption among the police.

This will go a long way to showing that Woodstock police is serious about
fighting crime, even among its own members, and will contribute to changing
the negative perception about our police members that still exist among our
community.

Best regards
