I live in lower Obs, and work from home. Over the past year, I've had an increasing number of vagrants jumping my low wall to bang on my door. We had an incident in the past week where a man refused to go away and proceeded to begin masturbating on my stoep - something my four-year old daughter was witness to. I hit the panic button and he ran away. I've spoken to some other Lower Observatory residents who are with Premier Security as I never see patrol cars, or even the OBSID van around lower Obs anymore. When the OBSID contracted Vetus Schola their presence was very visible, which helped with this problem. I also have had a few service issues with them. Last summer, they called us while we were on the beach to tell us our house alarm was going off and should they send someone around. I told them we were on the beach and they should. We then waited anxiously for them to get back to us. Eventually, I called them back and they said they'd been around to check, but had forgotten to call us back and let us know. On another occasion, my daughter pressed the panic button. We didn't call them to cancel, and almost 20 minutes later the Premier Security car arrived. I don't think they're doing a grand job, and the other residents I've spoken to seem disgruntled too. I never really understood the decision to get rid of Vetus Schola as they seemed to be doing a great job. We're told to contact Premier with our concerns, which we've done, but in spite of that I still see no cars patrolling and no OBSID van in Lower Obs.
