Not at all Rosemary. Join OBSID. Ask difficult questions. DEMAND accountability.
Just about everyone I speak to has some or other problem with OBSID. But moaning about it to your neighbour does no good to anyone. Join the OBSID (its free and you have to join to have voting rights) Attend to the AGM. Submit a question or motion. Vote for or against motions as you see fit. Or give your proxy to an agent that will vote for you. You will see the OBSID send out proxy forms asking you to assign your proxy to someone who will just vote according to OBSID wishes - you can assign your proxy to any member vote according to your wishes. If you do not get involved and raise questions and make points and demand answers then you must be supporting the OBSID entirely and showing confidence in them. Get involved - have your say. Post issues here so others can comment and agree/disagree as you see fit. I agree with you about the cameras which I believe to be a complete waste of time and money and I agree about the concerning way patrollers have been reduced. I am also concerned at the way the security contract was awarded and the general performance or lack thereof of the incumbent contractor. I am concerned about the apparent lack oversight as you state yourself. Who is overseeing OBSID? We the people should be overseeing it. I hope this gets the ball rolling.
