Its not about the social standing this poor guy has, its that he's a human being deservant of a level of dignity and assistance at a very difficult time. Its easy to decry vagrants as hopeless or responsible for all manner of evils but I can't imagine anyone knows how it feels to miserable, cold, hungry and hopeless every day of your existence. I realise this isn't the forum for bleeding heart liberalism but I would urge you to try and assist if possible, finances aside, a kind word to another human being in a huge amount of pain would go far. She was declared dead by the medical staff of the ambulance which was called in by bystanders. They were walking towards their usual hangout spot in front of Tagores when she just dropped to the floor. She had high blood pressure...maybe she had a heart attack. The procedure in cases like this is that the ambulance hands over to SAPS who then has to wait with the deceased until the undertakers come and fetch the body. I know Keith from being a regular at 1890 - he is the guy who always greets everybody with "good morning" He was obviously distraught about the loss of his girlfriend and i tried my best to console him. I had to leave after and hour. Not sure how long it took for the undertakers to arrive.
