Staff Engineer, Database Developer Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics, or MIS; and 3 to 5 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with database design, Oracle DBA tasks, system tuning and data movement. Working understanding of technologies such as: J2EE Application Servers, Workflow Servers, Web development, Oracle products including; RDBMS, Discoverer, Warehouse Builder, Oracle Identity Management, Oracle SOA Suite; UNIX, SAS, Java, HTML, JAVAscript, SVN and PLSQL. Essential Job Functions: Independently or within a team design, develop, test and implement solutions using commercial software integration and custom applications that meet the business needs of. May provide technical direction to a small group of developers on projects. Typical work-related activities include: * Design, develop and maintain software solutions for various products. * Analyze system requirements and provide recommendations for alternative business approaches to business analysts. Advance agreed-upon requirements into solution designs that incorporate commercial software and, as needed, custom components. * Streamline data flow into a developing warehouse environment * Create and support data standards * Assist in performance improvements of all systems as needed * Create and maintain a cross-program meta-data system * Create, maintain and enforce document standards * Assist in growth prediction * Support data requests from our clients * Author design documents using standard templates and design processes. * Conduct quality review of design documents prepared by others. * Apply software engineering principles to the development of applications. * Provide production support as needed. * Develop general awareness of the business and technologies that enable it. * Work with software testing to create and maintain testing plans and quality control procedures. * Identify potential policy issues in the design of programs.
