Kindly respond if you are interested and available for the project: Job Title: Monitoring Engineer *Location:* Cincinnati, OH *Duration:* 6+ months, Contract To Hire *Overview: * 5 + years working in an IT environment comprised of multiple core IT subject areas including but not limited to any/all of the following: Networking, System Administration, Application Development, Database, Hosting (J2EE/J2SE, .NET, Apache, IIS, .NET, etc). *Responsibilities:* Operates independently to: 1. Analyze existing and proposed application/infrastructure architectures to understand key performance and availability indicators (KPIs/KAIs) 2. Work with internal IT groups to develop and implement a monitoring plan for IT systems 3. Work with external customers to develop reports and dashboards 4. Administer the systems, which support the monitoring infrastructure - specifically Altiris Server Management Suite and Nagios 5. Implement monitoring to capture important IT status information 6. Develop self-healing automation to detect and recover IT systems 7. Analyze captured data to discover correlations 8. Coordinate the response to outages 9. Investigate and review new monitoring opportunities for applicability and functionality within our environment *Qualifications:* Bachelor's Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or Information Systems (or equivalent experience). *Skills:* Strong scripting skills supporting system administration, automation, and information gathering within Windows, Linux, and Solaris operating systems. VBScript, BASH, and Perl scripting expertise is a requirement. Experience with data gathering through SNMP, SQL and WMI Knowledge of operating systems including all Windows versions, Linux, Solaris Displays history of continual development of IT skills Proactively seeks out opportunities for IT process improvement. Strong customer service orientation Superior verbal and written communication skills Strong attention to detail skills Excellent organizational skills Ability to manage multiple tasks Ability to effectively manage conflict within the IT organization *Plusses:* 1. Experience implementing Altiris Server Management Suite (Notification Server, Inventory Solution, Software Deployment Solution, Monitoring Solution) 2. Java development experience 3. Database Administration 4. CMDB integration 5. Experience with automation through Powershell 6.
