I guess I somewhat agree with you. That being said, I can imagine
problems if Octave generates sounds with gaps. If I was playing sounds
from Octave I would do it to ensure that my signal processing hadn't
screwed up my signal. If I heard a gap I would be unsure if this was due
to a bug in my signal proces code. Perhaps, we could have an optional
input argument that sets the size of the blocks in your code. If this is
'Inf' the old code would be used. Does that sound reasonable?
