It would be nice to have, but would require some server side scripting.
I'm not willing to take on this task, bit I would support the effort if
someone else decides to work on this.

I guess you can add 

  site:http://octave.sourceforge.net

to a Google query to limit your search to Octave-Forge. I guess we could
somehow make a search box that does this. At the moment the web pages
needs to be redesigned to allow for a different release process. This
work has a higher priority for me, so I won't be working on this feature
at moment.
