Personally, I like that the user only have to click on the link on the front page to start the download. I'm afraid that some users will have a hard time browsing the SourceForge files-page. That being said, I agree that we have a problem with the current approach. It's simply too error-prone to manually update the link all the time. I don't know if SourceForge provides some mechanism for dealing with this.
