There was also Michaels response for the optim package --- thanks ---
and though no response came for miscellaneous, I don't think it is in
a short-term transitional state. So I've gone on, the packages are
submitted to the forum ... here is the announcement:

optim-1.0.15:

- New frontends nonlin_residmin and nonlin_curvefit, capable of
  structure-based parameter handling and parameter fixing. As yet only
  one backend, shared with leasqr.

struct-1.0.8:

- Some new functions for "vectorized" handling of structure fields,
  necessary for optim-1.0.15.

miscellaneous-1.0.10:

- One new function cell2cell, necessary for optim-1.0.15.

- Not that server.cc is not built, but this was already the case for
  miscellaneous-1.0.9, and I didn't see a fast fix.
