Sorry for the EXTREMELY late reply.
Could you please repackage the files using the full procedure at 
[url]http://octave.sourceforge.net/developers.html[/url] including uuencode and 
md5sum?
also I don't understand why the package tarball contains a .hg directory are 
you developing the package in a parallel mercurial repository?
anyway it would be better in order to avoid installing useless files on users' 
machines to remove this directory from the released package.
